The odds for a
STRAIGHT (Numbers drawn match your numbers exactly) are 1 in 1000.
Example: If the digits
547 were drawn you only win if you bet STRAIGHT on 547.
The odds for a BOX
(Numbers drawn match your numbers in any order) are 1 in 166.6. The odds
are more in your favor, but you win less money.
Example: If the number
547 was drawn you win if you bet on 457, 475, 547, 574 745 or 754.
You are usually
able to play for a STRAIGHT, a BOX or a so-called STRAIGHT/BOX that is a
combination of STRAIGHT and BOX that usually double the usual STRAIGHT
or BOX bet.
Example: If the number
547 was drawn you win if you bet on 457, 475, 547, 574 745 or 754. But
if you bet on 547 you will win the STRAIGHT amount in addition to your
BOX win.
SUPERBOX is
another play option in some games. It simplifies the work for the
player. You have to bet 6 times the normal bet amount. You actually
place 6 different bets on 6 different numbers in one single play. The
chances are 1:166.6 for a win, but the bet is higher.
Example: If the number
547 was drawn you win if you bet on 457, 475, 547, 574 745 or 754. But
you will always win the whole STRAIGHT amount.
In the 3-Way
variant of BOX, two of the three numbers you pick are equal. The chances
of winning in that case are 1:333 because there are only 3 combinations
of numbers possible.
Example: If the number
544 was drawn you win if you bet on 445, 454, 544. These are the only
combinations possible. You win usually approximately double the BOX
amount.
In this 3-Way
variant of SUPERBOX, two of the three numbers you pick are equal. You
have to bet 3 times the normal bet amount. You actually place 6
different bets on 3 different numbers in one single play. The chances of
winning in that case are the same as in the 3-WAY BOX
(1:333) but your win will be higher.
Example: If the number
544 was drawn, you win if you bet on 445, 454, 544. These are the only
combinations possible. You win the STRAIGHT amount.
In addition you
can bet (once again depending on the game) on the first two digits
(FRONT PAIR), the last two digits (BACK PAIR) and in some cases even on
the first and the last digit (SPLIT PAIR). The chances for all of those
bets are 1:100. But due to the higher chances of winning the win gets
less too.
Example: If the number
547 was drawn you win if you bet on the FRONT PAIR 54x, the SPLIT PAIR
5x7, and the BACK PAIR x47. These are the only combinations possible.
You win the PAIR amount.
It all depends on
a) what you want to spend and b) what your winning expectations are. All
of the types mentioned are recommended (without the 3-WAY variants).
The most
economical ones are definitely BOX or STRAIGHT/BOX. But if you have more
money to spend, play STRAIGHT or SUPER BOX. It might be hard on your
wallet but your winnings are higher.
